Yup, that handsome, skinny looking man is yours truly. Got a little ugly in the end, that guy was a total d bag. Anywho, this was recorded at Fargo Nationals my senior year of high school. Twice, I was granted the opportunity to wrestle on Ohio's National wrestling team for Greco-Roman and Freestyle. Some of you probably have no idea what that means. Pop a squat and I'll give you the low down.
So most of the time if anyone's ever heard of or seen wrestling it usually is Folkstyle wrestling. Folkstyle is what you would most likely see in high school or college and has many restricting rules as well as a much different scoring system. That being said, if you have ever watched the Olympics and watched any of the wrestling that goes on, you've seen Greco-Roman or Freestyle wrestling. First and foremost, let's start with Greco. Greco-Roman is a type of wrestling where attacking the opponents legs is completely out of the question. The point of this style is score from big, enormous throws that look awesome as all get up. Whereas Greco there are no leg attacks, Freestyle is a completely different story. Freestyle is throws and leg attacks all in one, just like the video seen above. Both these styles are about back exposure and are not about the amount of time the opponent holds the other on their back. Scoring points is as easy as rolling a person across their back (2 points). Locking hands is legal, and people can score a point from simply pushing one's opponent out of bounds. Even better, each period is almost regarded as a separate match , so if you're a lazy wrestler like myself it is a dream come true!
So there's the jest of these two unique styles of wrestling. If you have anymore interest in looking into more description of the sport, watch the next Olympic games. Thank the Lord they brought wrestling back I was about to start a riot. Oh and if you're interested in seeing my handsome self wrestle more matches like the one above, go to YouTube and type "Kyle Ferguson wrestling". You can watch me get my ass kicked in a few of them!
