As the current wrestling season draws to a close, collegiate teams meet with their opposing conference members to determine who the top dog of the league is. One of these conferences, and quite possibly one of the most competitive groups, is the Division II Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The teams competing in this match up consist of Tiffin, Ashland, Lake Erie, and Findlay University. Although only having 4 current teams competing in this competition, each team in the GLIAC is within the top 12 of the Midwest Super Region. To add to these credentials, Ashland and Lake Erie were awarded recent national rankings of 17 and 18 in the country.
Regardless of the competition, the dragons have been working extremely hard in the practice room the past few weeks and are ready to dominate in the morning. The TU wrestlers, including myself, will not only be looking to win their first GLIAC championship as a team, but as individuals as well. Returning All-American Kevin Christman will be a probable contender for a title. Other promising wrestlers for the team will include freshman's Sampahn Viengmany, Chase Boyd, Jared Chambers, and Kaleb Matchett. The competition will be kicking off around 10 a.m. tomorrow at Findlay University's athletic conference and will consist of 3 dual meets between the teams. Try to come out to see some great competitive wrestling and remember; Go TU!
