Believe it or not, that handsome looking kid right there is yours truly. Since the day I was blessed to walk this earth, God fitted me with a pair of wrestling shoes and a headgear. Before I could even walk, I was strapped in a stroller gazing upon high school wrestlers as my father coached them. As the time went on and I grew older, I inevitably fell in love with the sport. At the of age 6, I went to my first official practice as a Coventry Comet and I never looked back. Growing through the years, I not only became an exceptional wrestler, but also attained many admirable traits including leadership, courage, respect, and perseverance. I built numerous friendships that will last a lifetime, and a bond with my father that could never be shaken. In my career, I managed to qualify for the state tournament in Ohio three times, placed twice, and have even went on to wrestle for the Ohio National team my Junior and Senior year. I owe all these blessings to God and the amazing sport of wrestling.
From the picture you see at the top, to currently being a Division II NCAA wrestler, it has been 14 beautiful years of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears that I would not trade for anything in the world. This sport will always be a part of my life and I have many goals I want to still achieve before my career is over. As a collegiate wrestler, I am currently working towards being an All-American, or in other words a national placer. Before I retire that is one dream I wish to achieve. That will not be the end of wrestling for me by any means though. I want to take my knowledge and experience and eventually coach kids aspiring to better themselves, whether they be high school or youth. Looking further into the future, I hope that one day when I start a family, my model of a wife will bless me with at least one child that has the same passion that I had growing with the sport. I pray that him and I have the same type of bond that my father and myself had, and that I raise him as great as my father raised me.
So aside from the dieting and cutting weight, wrestling is and always will be my life. I am so thankful for the impact it has made on my life and I do not know where I would be without it. This being my first post and moral obligation, I wanted you the reader to know why this sport has meaning to me from my past involvement and future aspirations. I hope you have enjoyed and be ready for nothing but magnificent wrestling posts from here on out!
